Record Path Header for Triangle Routing Attacks in IPv6 Networks
نویسندگان
چکیده
Triangle routing is one of the serious attacks to the Internet infrastructure. It can be caused by malicious routers which misroute packets to wrong directions. This kind of attacks creates network problems such as network congestion, denial of service and network partition and results in degrade of network performance. This paper gives a comprehensive study on how the path analysis combats the triangle routing attacks. We discuss the method, implementation and limitation of path analysis to detect triangle routing in IPv4 network. We also discuss the implementation of path analysis in IPv6 by proposing a new extension header, called Record Path Header. Key-Words: IPv6, Infrastructure, Routing, Attack

Performance Evaluation of IPv4 and IPv6 Routing Protocols on Wired, Wireless and Hybrid Networks
A routing protocol is used to determine the optimal path to forward the packets from source to destination. A separate set of protocols is designed for IPv4 & IPv6 network such as RIP, OSPF-v2, RIPng, OSPF-v3, and AODV. IPv4 is replaced by IPv6 (next generation internet protocol), but both the protocols are not suitable for each other, due to this they need to coexist for a long time. In this p...
متن کاملSecuring Binding Updates in Routing Optimizaton of Mobile IPv6
Mobile IPv6 (mipv6) is an internet protocol that allows mobile nodes to have continuous network connectivity to the internet without changing their ip addresses while moving to other networks. The packets sent from Correspondent Node (CN) to a Mobile Node (MN) go first through the mobile node’s Home Agent (HA). Then the HA tunnels them to the MN’s foreign network. This process of delivering the...
متن کاملIPv6 Specific Issues to Track States of Network Flows
Connection tracking subsystem on Linux tracks states of network flows. It is utilized by packet filter for stateful filtering. In this paper, we propose solutions to issues that arise where connection tracking subsystem handles Routing Header and Mobile IPv6. We also describe how the current connection tracking subsystem handles IPv6 fragments without disturbing Path MTU discovery. As a result ...
متن کاملIPv6 Network Security using Snort
IPv6 is new routing protocol. IPv6 is introduced by IETF mainly due IPv4 address exhaustion but it is also an enhanced version of IPv4. There are many changes in IPv6 header, some fields from IPv6 header has been deprecated from IPv6 and some are newly added. There is also common misconception among people that IPv6 is more secure than IPv4, which is not true. Now a day's intruders are targetin...
متن کاملAddressing Record-Route Issues in the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)
A typical function of a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Proxy is to insert a Record-Route header into initial, dialog-creating requests in order to make subsequent, in-dialog requests pass through it. This header contains a SIP Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) or SIPS (secure SIP) URI indicating where and how the subsequent requests should be sent to reach the proxy. These SIP or SIPS URIs c...
